Latex, Liberation & Life Milestones: Reinvention in Real Time

I’ve always admired those who dare to stand out.
Growing up in the 70s & 80s, I loved the glam rock glitter on Top of the Pops, the punk rebellion, the New Romantic flair - though I never fully dived in myself. Instead, I played around the edges: from neon pink boiler suits and leopard print co-ordinates to skull-print skirts.
Then life, work, marriage… and somewhere along the way, my style - and my sense of self - dimmed.
Fast forward through divorce, reinvention, and another tough relationship, and I kept peeling back the layers of who I really was.
Then in 2020 I met Gareth who introduced me to latex and suddenly, another chapter of discovery began! ✨
Latex & Liberation
Last week, I debuted my new Latex & Liberation talk at an online networking community. I’d only just created it, slides and all, and the feedback was incredible.
Maria Newman, who runs YaaMas Networking, even left me this glowing testimonial:
“Sarah was an absolute breath of fresh air at YaaMas Networking with her talk, Latex and Liberation. She spoke with such passion and energy that you couldn’t help but feel drawn in… Her delivery was bold, engaging and thought-provoking. You could feel the shift in the room. Everyone left with a spark to live more authentically.”
That, in essence, is what my talk is about: the courage to be who you truly are, stop seeking approval, and walk your own path.
I shared my story - from a rubber dress disaster years ago (think inner tube quickly finds the bin liner 🙈) to rediscovering the joy of dressing up, creating content with Gareth, and connecting with an amazing community who embody acceptance and authenticity.
When you’re unapologetically yourself, resilience and confidence radiate outwards. That’s liberation.
Lucy Loves Latex
Of course, my latex alter ego, Lucy Loves Latex, has a life of her own. On Instagram, over 58K followers tune in for a mix of camp, cheeky fun — think Carry On films meets shiny glamour. There’s also the YouTube channel where I interview latex makers and wearers, plus my Latex & Liberation VIP membership for fans who love longer-form content.
And the adventures don’t stop there. Last weekend, Gareth and I hit a rubber event in London - a fabulous chance to catch up with friends and celebrate all things shiny.
I even recorded a podcast this week with Vanilla to Vixen (aka V2V) podcast as Lucy which has already gone live! (Excited doesn’t even begin to cover it!) 🤩
Life Milestones

And because life isn’t just latex… tomorrow, I’m running the North Norfolk Coastal Marathon 🏃♀️. Yes - 26.2 miles of rugged paths, sea views, and sheer grit. Sunday will definitely be a rest day!
Then, on 9th October, Gareth and I tie the knot 💍, before flying to Mauritius to celebrate both our wedding and my 60th birthday 🎉.
After that, I’ll be developing Latex & Liberation into a keynote for both online and in-person events and moving into full on promotional mode too.
And over in coaching land, I’ll be promoting my self learning courses: Manifest Your Dream Job (based on my book Shining a Light on You)* and Cultivating Positive Vibes.
Reinvention in Real Time
If there’s a thread running through all of this - from glam rock childhood to latex talks, marathons, weddings, and new horizons, it’s this:
Life isn’t linear.
Reinvention is always possible.
And when you live authentically, everything becomes an adventure.
